Ghosts of Lovers Past
“Let’s take a bath together,” you said with a boyish grin and so I found myself lighting a candle while the warm water filled the tub. We sat, soaking in the warmth, our legs wrapped around each other while you washed my hair.
“That was fantastic, I think I should like to do it again,” you said, kissing me by the door. I was tired from past hurts and found in you…refreshment.
“You don’t understand how hard this is for me,” you said, while another man’s arms wrapped about my waist.
But I do, I understand so very much because sometimes I find myself also wondering “what if”.
In every path I’ve chosen, there’s always been that lingering question waiting to haunt me. But to not choose isn’t an option.
So, I’ll just keep walking.
